Description

Indole-3-methanol (I3C) activates aromatic hydrocarbon receptor (AHR) and induces G1 cell cycle arrest and apoptosis. Therefore, it is a potential anticancer agent. In addition, it induces estradiol metabolism by stimulating cytochrome P450 enzyme. Therefore, I3C is considered to be an effective chemotherapy drug for various types of cancer, including breast cancer, prostate cancer, colon cancer and leukemia. Indole-3-methanol can only induce the apoptosis of cancer cells, which is safe and non cytotoxic to non tumor cells.
